Electronic Filing

You can now file your tax return online at

There is no charge if you do not finalize the return, so there is no risk if you want to see if you can do it.

If you want to print the finalized version and file it electronically, it only costs $ 9.95 for Form 1040EZ or Form 1040A. If you are filing a form 1040, the cost is $ 19.95. There is no extra fee for electronic filing.

If you buy off-the-shelf tax software, you have to pay for it even if you give up on it and do not file.

If you have a complex return, I do not recommend doing it yourself, but if all you have is a W-2, a little interest and dividend income, a mortgage interest deduction and some real estate tax, you might give this a try. It costs nothing if you decide not to print and file it.
